Instead of sending Christmas cards to its customers and other business associates, this year Bata Industrials has decided to make a donation to War Child’s “Elle” project. As an independent humanitarian organisation, War Child invests in a peaceful future for children whose lives have been affected by war. The “Elle” project is part of War Child’s (www.warchild.com) efforts in Congo. Together with the magazine Elle, War Child provides assistance to some 30 girls in Congo, nearly all of whom are former soldiers, helping them to design and make clothing. In addition to professional training such as sewing workshops, they will also receive psycho-social assistance. This will allow them to build a new future for themselves.
